ITB Team Skin Care Formula 1st Winner of Herbal Cosmetics Competition
A team of students from the School of Pharmacy, Woman & Beauty Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), created a herbal skincare formula to treat acne problems on the face. Her concoction won first place in the recent 2021 Herbal Cosmetic Competition category. The products will be developed to target young consumers.
The herbal cosmetic formula was prepared by Chelzsya Athaayaa Nurman, Rahmaditha Maharani, and Shafanisa Fadhila Andika. They sent it to the competition committee in mid-2021 and announced the winner last November. The competition was held by the Santa Dharma University Pharmacy Student Executive Board, entitled Science Competition (SICON) 2021.
The trio of students from the 2019 ITB Pharmaceutical Science and Technology study program named their product Blissque, in the form of a gel serum in a small 20-milliliter bottle. “It’s a microemulsion serum for acne-prone skin,” said Chelzsya to Tempo, Saturday, December 25, 2021.
The ingredients of the herbal cosmetics that are worth selling are tamanu oil and Sunset in Jeju Oil mixed with other ingredients such as rose water and peppermint oil. The manufacturing process, said Chelzsya, took place at a factory in Depok owned by her uncle. “He helped make it, but the formula was from us,” said Chelsea. In addition, they join forces to finance competition participation.
